Wilt Earns Endorsement from NOW-New York State
ROCHESTER, NY: Robin Wilt (D-WFP) has received the endorsement of the National Organization for Women-New York State (NOW-NYS) in her race for New York State Senate in the 56th district.
“NOW has long been a leader in efforts to advance fairness and equality for women, and I am proud to stand with them as the struggle continues in our state and around the world,” Wilt said. “We know that many households in our region are headed by women, and yet women still earn about $0.75 for every $1.00 that men make. Clearly, it’s time to uphold fairness for women in the workplace.”
NOW-NYS is “the largest women's political action organization in New York, representing over 14,000 women and men in 24 chapters,” says the organization’s website. It is “dedicated to fighting for women's equality and to improving the status of women in New York.”
As a grassroots organizer, Wilt has been a strong advocate for pay equity in the workplace and access to quality, affordable health care for all. The New York Senate and Wilt’s incumbent Republican opponent voted down the Fair Pay Act, which “provides that it shall be an unlawful employment practice for an employer to discriminate between employees on the basis of sex, race and/or national origin by paying different wages.” Wilt is committed to championing this legislation when she reaches Albany.
