Wilt Earns Endorsement From NARAL Pro-Choice New York
NARAL Pro-Choice New York has endorsed Robin Wilt (D-W) for New York State Senate in the 56th district during its first round of endorsements.
"I am thrilled to have the support of NARAL Pro-Choice New York,” said Wilt. “In a year when women's reproductive rights have come under attack, it is crucial that we have candidates that will champion women's continued access to the reproductive health care that they need."
Wilt is a business owner, citizen activist, and the challenger in her race. She is a strong voice for the reproductive rights and health of New York women. NARAL’s website explains that Wilt and other endorsees are “100% pro-choice candidates.”
NARAL’s first-round endorsements underscore a rising theme of this year’s campaign: the strong presence of New York women. Seven of the group’s ten first-round Senate endorsees are women.
Wilt’s campaign is one of 10 Senate races around the state where Democratic women challenge incumbent Republican men. At present, only 10 of New York’s 62 state senators are women—8 Democrats and 2 Republicans. Wilt and this year’s slate of Democratic women challengers aim to make that total 20, supplanting incumbents while they’re at it.
